Head, Louisiana Research Collection

Miller supervised manuscripts processing at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, before becoming head of Tulane University's Manuscripts Department in 1991. He was named head of the Louisiana Research Collection in 2009.

Miller is a past president of the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) and the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA). He has served on the boards of the Louisiana Archives and Manuscripts Association, Society of Southwest Archivists, Society of American Archivists, and the Academy of Certified Archivists. Both the Academy of Certified Archivists and the Society of Southwest Archivists have honored Miller with Distinguished Service Awards. In 2010, he was named a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists.
